Corpus Christi, TX—The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Cultural Services is pleased to announce the exhibition Writing in Ink, by the nationally recognized Texas artist Marthe Minford-Meas. The exhibition will be on view at the Galería Galván located inside the Galván House at Heritage Park. The exhibition will open on May 4, 2007 and will run through June 2, 2007. A closing reception for the exhibition will be held on Friday, June, 1, 2007 from 6pm to 8pm.

            A Literature, Science and Arts graduate of The University of Michigan with a Masters in English from Winthrop University, Marthe Minford-Meas has been painting and teaching for twenty-five years in Texas, Ohio and North Carolina. A published poet as well, she taught Poetry at Xavier University in Cincinnati before moving to Corpus Christi. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work in art and poetry, and is featured in several public and private collections. She currently lives and works in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The exhibition Writing in Ink will consist of a new series of Sumi-e ink paintings on mulberry paper. Sumi-e ink drawing is the process of drawing and painting in ink using traditional Japanese techniques and materials similar to those which have been around for centuries in calligraphy writing. This is one of the oldest and most respected forms of drawing and painting.
