Snake River Farms is a family owned business, started by Robert Rebholtz, the founder of Agri Beef Co., a family owned cattle company located in Boise, Idaho. Snake River Farms began over a decade ago with a small herd of Wagyu cattle from the Kobe region of Japan. The name Wagyu refers to all Japanese beef cattle ("Wa" meaning Japanese-style and "gyu" meaning cattle.) The Wagyu bulls were crossed with premium American Black Angus to form a proprietary herd that has developed into one of the finest groups of Wagyu/Angus cross cattle in the U.S.

Often referred to as American Kobe Beef, this unique breed was bred specifically to deliver the finest eating quality. Special attention is given to care and feed management. Every step in the production process is strictly controlled to ensure that this level of distinction is achieved. Snake River Farms uses a feeding program that adheres to the heritage-steeped Japanese long-feeding program. They feed their cattle four times longer than average cattle in order to develop the superior flavor and tenderness of this succulent beef. Snake River Farms feeds only the finest ingredients, including Idaho potatoes, soft white wheat, corn and alfalfa hay. Animal by-products are not used in their feeding program and their beef is completely free from added hormones and antibiotic residue.
